Have you noticed in modern TV advertisements...
...that the oddball/idiot/foolish/stupid/freak/annoying character to be ridiculed is invariably a white man?

Now that TV adverts (over) represent the ethnic minority (well only black) populations of the UK, how about they do something to address this ridiculous conscious bias against white men.

We are oppressed I tell thee!

Whenever I took a contract in a non-English speaking country (like Scotland), I would watch the adverts, soaps & chat shows for a few weeks to help get a handle on the language.

I suspect all UK TV adverts are now targetted at all the illegals streaming ashore to help them better claim benefits.

You would hate Queenslanders, they do both.

Slow speaking with even more exaggerated rising intonation at the end of every drawn out word..

At least Phil Parkes and his Cossack hairspray left it to the magazines rather than interrupting your TV programme!!

I want to punch that Yolt woman with her 2 minute pauses between words. Why did that become a thing? It's every bit as annoying as the Aussie-style rising intonation.

Regarding youtube adverts. I will point blank refuse to buy anything advertised that interupts my video. Its like they're trying to piss me off.

Not that I play shitty mobile phone games, need "yolt" to know where my money goes or need a free audio book on us

I don't know what pathetic point you're trying to make with that ridiculous post?

Who said there is no room for black people? I have no issue with black people being represented on TV advertisements or playing for West Ham! I just have an issue with the PC, woke, feminist reverse racism and sexism that means the butt of the majority of jokes in TV advertisements these days are white men.

Black men are never shown as being idiots, cringey or incompetent in TV ads. They are usually shown as being smooth, good-natured and successful. The reverse is true for white men. This is the issue that I was raising. Not the fact that black people appear in TV advertisements (although it is another point, that others have made, that they are grossly over represented in TV advertisements these days).

Viva capitalism, you cunts.

I remember daytime TV adverts were all about mild green fairy liquid. Now it's an avalanche of neglected/starving kids and battered women/donkeys. Small wonder clinical depression is increasing tenfold.

Re: Have you noticed in modern TV advertisements...
Adverts are just a pain regardless, especially on You Tube where they come up slap bang in the middle of a video. They aren't even funny any more. I could quite happily watch Gregor Fisher's Hamlet advert in the photo booth but today's offerings make the Oxo ad or Nescafe coffee look Oscar material!

I really hate the PayPal advert where the little girl drops a bag of shopping off to her Grandad and he does a PayPal transfer from his living room window for the exact amount. The dad stays in his car and smiles to his girl like this was some magic moment that she will look back on fondly.

The new normal? Fuck off!

Re: Have you noticed in modern TV advertisements...
Black folk in adverts is actually racist and anti-black.

Underlying assumption is : " please buy these things instead of rioting and looting them."

Ermmm.

But you're right.: we DO need to make a stand. Sack Antonio, Fredericks, Haller, Johnson, Ogbonna, Masuaku and Diop IMMEDIATELY and replace with 7 John Terrys.

(Oh, no! It's as if I haven't thought this through!)

You have a point there.
I don't watch much TV at all and my main lockdown viewing has been time shifted detective stuff on ITV3 and I skip the ads. They are mostly charity ads, cruises and stuff for OAPs.
